What happens at a baby massage class?
Thinking of coming along to one of my baby massage classes but a bit unsure of what to expect? Or finding it a bit nerve wracking getting out of the house and trying to meet other new parents? I do everything I can to make sure that my baby massage classes are a relaxed, friendly and safe space for you to come with your baby.
Before the first session:
I’ll ask you to fill in a quick questionnaire about you and your baby so that I know your names and can adapt to any specialised/medical needs.
Before the first session, I’ll send you a detailed email with all the info you need about exactly where to go for the session and what to bring with you.
First session:
I’ll welcome you as you come into the room, show you where to park your buggy (if you’ve brought one) & show you where to sit.
I’ll explain about the oils we use & talk you through a patch test on your baby to make sure the oils are safe for you to use. You'll be given your own bottle of organic oil to use during the session, which is yours to keep.
We’ll take turns to introduce ourselves and your babies to help everyone feel at ease. I also have personalised name place holders for everyone.
Then we’ll do a short routine of breathing techniques to help you feel relaxed, then I’ll talk you through a lovely, gentle baby massage routine for your baby.
My classes are baby-led which means that there is no expectation for your baby to 'behave' (they're babies after all!). If your baby needs feeding, you can feed them, if they need a cuddle, you can give them a cuddle, and if they need a nappy change then feel free to change their nappy. Everyone in the room is a parent and knows what it's like, so please don't feel conscious or worried if your baby cries! We just go with the flow.
After the first session I'll send an email to the group (so that you have each others contact details if you want to keep in touch) with access to a client area of my website where you can find all the baby massage routines that we cover during the course. This is perfect if you miss any part of the session or want to try baby massage at home.
I take photos during the sessions and there's a mini photoshoot at the end of each course with a backdrop for parent and baby photos as well as a graduation set up for your baby. Digital images are included as part of the course and will be sent to you after the course. You can see examples on my website and instagram (photos only ever shared with permission). A lovely little momento for you and your baby!
Baby massage is the perfect first class for your baby and is suitable from birth. It's also a lovely session for older babies up until they are crawling. You can find up and coming courses on my website https://www.babybien.co.uk/babymassage.html or get in touch for more details email: [email protected].
PAYG classes and one off specials can be booked if you want to try without committing to a full course (subject to availability).
I've been teaching baby massage for over 7 yers and am a fully qualified and insured instructor. I'd love to welcome you to a class soon!
